"The two best teams are playing," Brown said. "It's amazing how the perfect storm happened (considering) last year. I'm so glad they get another opportunity. They're two great teams, so it'll be fun and it'll be good for the league."
It's quite the opposite, in fact. Brown, the longtime NBA coach who has Nike Air Force 1 Low Top
Maxwell Kupchak is set to be a senior at Brentwood High School in Los Angeles, and the semi routine updates on how he's doing are all part of these occasional conversations between longtime friends. Their shared roots trace back to the legendary Dean Smith, who coached both Kupchak and Brown at North Carolina albeit more than a decade apart.
"Not everybody would give an old man like me a chance to coach, so I've been pretty fortunate to have that opportunity here," Brown said. "We're moving forward (at SMU), so I'm OK."
The Spurs, of course, will get their chance to win a fifth championship and Nike Air Force 1 Ultra Flyknit Low Black exact revenge for the 2013 Finals long after so many had assumed their special era would end.
As for the idea that Brown may be leaving SMU anytime soon, he said he's happy where he is.
"I'm just so thankful SMU gave me this chance," Brown said. "We have made such progress. We've got a bunch of young kids already committed for the future and I'd love to finish it out here. . I'd love to see (the Lakers) get a great coach, because I love Mitch and I love that franchise. But I'm thrilled where I am. I feel so fortunate I've had this chance."
SAN ANTONIO Larry Brown has been talking to Los Angeles Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak, alright, but not as some sort of recruitment for the vacant coaching job.
"I've always kept in touch with Mitch; I admire the hell out of him," the 73 year old Brown told USA TODAY Sports by phone on Tuesday. "I talk to Mitch all the time. . (But) we're not Nike Air Force 1 Low Montreal
interviews and/or discussions with six known candidates, and Kupchak had planned on reaching out to former Lakers guard Derek Fisher soon to assess his situation and possible candidacy.

talking about coaching the Lakers. I've read some of the names. They've got a long list of good people to choose from, and I'm here at SMU. I want to win a national championship."
"I talk to Pop almost every day," Brown said. "He invited me (to the Finals). I've just got to figure out how I can get (there). We're allowed to work our kids out, and it's a 4 hour drive, so I don't know."
Kupchak isn't the only prominent NBA personality who Brown has on speed dial. He has regular conversations with San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, who invited him to the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat that start with Game 1 on Thursday. Popovich was an assistant under Brown at Kansas in 1985, then later followed him to San Antonio as Brown's lead assistant in 1988.
There was a time not too long ago when Brown wondered if his storied coaching career had come to a premature end. His nasty departure from the New York Knicks in 2006 led to his two year hiatus from coaching and eventual stint coaching the Charlotte Bobcats (2008 10). He remains the only coach to win championships at the NBA level (Detroit Pistons, 2004) and in the NCAA (Kansas, 1988). The Lakers have Nike Air Force 1 Low Brown
