Last placed candidate Mr Love added his tribute to those for his "good friend" Tom Maginnis, saying: "The people of this area had a brilliant councillor who guarded this ward and treated everybody like family.
"I believe the electors in Coatbridge West have seen through the empty promises of other parties; and expressed confidence in me to work for everyone in this area and to represent its interests."

Mr Docherty gained 2145 first preference votes, his total of 78 per cent easily outstripping the required quota of 1361 at the first stage of counting.
Conservative candidate Ashley Baird was third with 71 votes; Billy Mitchell of UKIP, who was not at the count, received 34.

The newly elected Councillor Docherty who has been involved with the area's community council, crime prevention panel and credit union told the Advertiser after the declaration: "I'm over the moon.
